Eroticon USA Our Unofficial Hotel Options

So I’ve been noticing a bit of back and forth on twitter with some of us that since there isn’t an official hotel for Eroticon USA where are people staying.   With that said I took advantage of some local Tribal Knowledge and asked Lord Raven and Alice to provide feedback on the following properties since they live there.  This by no means is an all inclusive list, it is simply the properties closest to the venue.  I also didn’t price shop and simply took the rates and ratings offered by the travel website I use. With the exception of the Renaissance where we have firsthand knowledge of the property I’ve listed them from lowest to highest rate. If several people show interest in the same property I can cal call and see if we can get a better rate on a small block of rooms. (OK I’ll have my EA, or Victoria, or the Blonde do it).  No promises on the results.  With that said we have a few seats left in our car from the hotel to the venue for anyone near us who would like a ride.  First come first serve.

Also I have found some substantially lower rates (ranging from $46 a night up and up) out by the Airport (Hyatt Place Not fancy but clean safe and in expensive about $88 a night), in Perimeter (it’s a part of the burbs and a great rate $109 at the Embassy Suites with two queens and a queen pull out), in Norcross, & by Six Flags if you don’t mind a drive. LR’s 2 cents on ATL driving, add an extra 30 minutes for each 30 minutes of google travel time, the traffic sucks.

Renaissance Atlanta Mid Town

866 W. Peachtree Street, NW
Atlanta, GA 30308
1.26 miles | 4 Star | $149.00

LR I have stayed here in the past and loved it, probably one of the best hotel experiences as far as staff and location. There is a good taxi and MARTA (our local bus and train transportation system) pick up as well as drop off.

Holiday Inn Atlanta Dwtn – Center

101 Andrew J. Young
Atlanta, GA 30303
1.16 miles | 3 Star| Rate  $90-124

A good choice offering the weary traveler a place to rest their head. Also located near the Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coke as well as Centennial park. If you want more than just a night’s sleep and make a weekend out of it then this would be my choice. Come for the event, stay a few days and take in the sights.

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Atlan

160 Spring Street NW
Atlanta, GA 30303
1.21 miles | 3 Stars | Rate $99-119

Wow 2 blocks away from the Tabernacle ( a music venue)  So if you’re into the alternative scene and would like to take in a show this would be a good choice. Info can be looked up on The hotel has a reputation of being on the nicer side as well as a courteous staff.

Hyatt Place Atlanta/Downtown

330 Peachtree St NE
Atlanta, GA 30308
Techwood-Clark Howell Homes
1.16 miles | 3 Stars | Free Breakfast | Rate $116-129

Clean and classy but I am just not fond of the neighborhood. Traffic is impossible in that area as well as a higher vagrant population in the area.

Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center

800 Spring St NW
Atlanta, GA 30308

Georgia Tech
1.13 miles | 3 Stars | Rate $135-169

Just knowing the area I would say no, it is a major merge point for traffic in several directions. Even in non rush hour times it has taken me 30 minutes to get around that block. I know nothing about the hotel other than a water damage back about 4 years ago and it seemed like a nice place.

Best Western Plus Inn

330 W Peachtree St NW
Atlanta, GA 30308
1.19 miles | 3 Star | Rates $143-169

Being a Best Western alone says a bit for it, the location is decent with good access to most everything around. I would say it should be a safe bet it would be an acceptable stay.

590 W Peachtree St NW
Atlanta, GA 30308-3586
1.07 miles | 3 Star | Rates $151- 174

For the posh stay I would vote this one a 5 star ok. A very attentive staff that is top notch. Mostly taxi service from this point if I remember correctly but I think it would be a great choice

W Atlanta Downtown

45 Ivan Allen Jr Blvd
Atlanta, GA 30308
Techwood-Clark Howell Homes
1.1 miles | 4 Star | $159-259

I don’t know anything about this hotel other than the pictures and the reviews and all I can say is WOW! Traffic might be a little squirrely but it is close to some nice places to visit as well.  Mal says there is no such thing as a bad W.

Hampton Inn Atlanta _Gerogia Tech

244 North Avenue, N.W.

NO NO NO NO NO bad place to stay for a lot of reasons

Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Downtown

275 Baker Street
Atlanta, GA 30313
0.86 miles | 3 Star | Rates $179 – 459

A nice place and right across from the park. There will be good taxi service from this location.

Holiday Inn Express Downtown

111 Cone Street NW
Atlanta, GA 30303
1.27 miles | 2 Star

A decent stay as would any express would be. After all it’s a Holiday Inn and they have to keep to a standard.

For those new to Atlanta

Ok for anyone who has never been to Atlanta and especially the downtown section, it is busy and people can be quite rude when they are driving. I would suggest checking whatever hotel you decide on online and reading the reviews. Check on transportation both taxi and Marta. There are some areas that are a little more heavily populated with street people that might ask for a dollar or two, I would suggest trying to stay off the streets as much as possible. Not that is it overly dangerous just annoying when trying to get from place to place. The local college just to the north of the hotel area can add for some interesting colorful happenings but that mostly stayed on campus or out of the tourist district.

Well what is good to see? I would have to say that this is right in the heart of some great attractions. There is Centennial Park, The world of Coke, the Aquarium all bundled together, as well as the tabernacle (a music venue) nearby. Eating in this area of town is from elegant to fast food, there is a Hard Rock Café as well as several other places. Small shops littler the ground level walkway and for the bravest of them all who are looking for the local flavor (and a possible heart attack) there is the Varsity. The Fox Theater is nearby for those who might like a little theater, it is more on the side of the interstate that the Renaissance and Melia are on. If you can find it there is also Rocky’s Brick house oven. Trust me you won’t be at a lack of places to eat in the south; we love our food down here.  There are clubs a plenty here so check out what is happening on the Creative Loafing page  then shoot me (LR) an email midnightravenpoet  at gmail and I can let you know what I might know about it. There are a few rough places like with any cities and I hope you visit will be fun as well as educational.

  1. Alright then, lets get this party started. I am super excited to meet whoever comes. Please if you have any questions ask away. I have been in the ATL area for several years and know quite a bit about it.

      1. Just for the record I moved hotels to the Residence in Midtown. Needed a bit more space than originally planned.
